Business Secret #59

Almost 20 square miles in size, the Tallahassee/Leon County Enterprise Zone offers financial incentives to businesses and residents.

Enterprise Zone

The Tallahassee/Leon County Enterprise Zone (EZ), number 3701, offers financial incentives to businesses and residents. Almost twenty square miles in size, the Tallahassee/Leon County EZ is located in the central, southern and western portions of the community. The Enterprise Zone is a geographical area targeted for economic revitalization. Businesses that locate or expand their operations are eligible for various state tax incentives.

Potential benefits include a jobs tax credit for new employees who live within an Enterprise Zone boundary, rebates of state sales tax paid for equipment and construction materials and a state tax credit for increases in local property taxes due to property improvements. A building materials sales tax refund is a potential benefit for a resident living in the Enterprise Zone who has renovated or expanded their home.
