Business Retention and Expansion Program

The primary goal of the Business Expansion and Retention Program of the Economic Development Council of Tallahassee and Leon County (EDC) is to retain, protect and nurture local jobs and businesses. The Expansion and Retention Program promotes growth in the area's existing business community by providing a wide range of services necessary to foster job creation and the generation of new capital investment.

In order to better understand the composition of the local industry mix, EDC staff routinely conducts company site visits. In addition, the EDC conducts Business Needs Assessments and facilitates Industry Sector Roundtables to identify issues affecting the business climate or specific companies.

Incentives

To assist existing businesses, the EDC draws from a potent array of state and local economic development programs.

Information and Research

To businesses that are either expanding or considering location options outside of the area, access to accurate and timely information is critical. To support the expansion or retention decision, the EDC is able to provide detailed data, which highlights Tallahassee and Leon County's dynamic community and business environment. The Economic Development Council maintains an extensive sites and facilities database that is available for query on the Internet. In concert with local brokers and real estate professionals, the EDC continuously updates the sites and facilities database with new information.
